On Sunday 1st May innovative London promoter Jim Warboy and his Save Our Souls team is taking over Egg nightclub to present a one-off night God Save Our Scene. This will be the Bank Holiday party of the weekend and will gather together some of London’s wildest, sexiest and most flamboyant characters to create a bash that will put the Royal couple’s wedding reception to shame.
Save Our Souls is the fresh clubbing experience that DJ Mag dubbed ’the final destination for London’s true party heads’ after its gutsy NYE 12hr launch party. In a short space of time it’s clear that SOS is already shaking up London’s in-the-know Shoreditch scene with it’s signature main room catwalk, off-the-wall installations, and raunchy backroom.
The night promises to deliver a unique combination of ideas that represent the kind of creativity that has continually kept London at the forefront of club music and fashion.
There will be three floors of music covering Electro house, Deep and Tech house, to the rapidly influential Vintage house, and SOS’s own Catwalk house delivered by a number of seasoned veterans, fashionable names, including Punks Jump Up, Jodie Harsh, Kris Di Angelis, Tasty Tim, and Warboy, plus other fresh-faced contenders to the throne.
Ensuring that this night will be elevated from the usual one dimensional club nights to a multi-dimensional experience will be the double-take tranny hosts, riotous performers, and Vogueing dancers, including Vogue cover star Andre J and Time Out ‘Performer of the Year’, Scottee.
Designer Andrew Bannister from fashion label Studio_805 will be showing pieces from his Warhol’s Factory inspired Autumn 2011/12 collection. ‘Studio_805 shot Andy Warhold- is all about fame, reflection and NYC go-go dancers.
Yes, the house music scene is truly having a renaissance but, whilst it may be sound like it’s going back to its roots, the mangled minds at SOS are growing a completely new offshoot. God Save Our Scene.

PUNKS JUMP UP
Punks Jump Up came together in London as a mere accident a few years back. Joe, a born & bred Londoner & David, a Swede just off the boat, had bumped into each other on several occasions, mainly occasions that had to do with music, style & anything visual that looked cool. They both come from a background of punk & dance music, street art, fashion & style all wrapped up in DIY ethos.
Both eager to get their share of the creative chaos that is east London they were putting on their own parties for the freaks, proto hipsters, fashion victims & loonies in general who were loitering the area. This led to beautiful friendships with a lot of music & art eccentrics in the vicinity so they set up their own Cassette Records label as a vent for all the creativity that needed an outlet. The first Punks Jump Up EP – Be You (Beep Beep) on the Cassette label created a minor storm on the DIY dance scene in London and beyond and was played by the now lords of dance James Murphy & Erol Alkan. It got represented on BBC1 as Annie Mac & Chris Coco played the track to death. All this with no promotion – no pr. The Cassette Label released a handful of EPs by artists & remixers like Simian Mobile Disco & Zongamin.
Another aspect of DIY is the fashion side and PJU soon started their own t shirt label called Stiff Couture, they took on Kate Moross (the now well established self made illustrator & designer) who was the first one to make a t shirt for the label. Her t-shirt for Stiff Couture soon got heavily bootlegged in South East Asia & Russia alike (!!).
The second PJU track to be released was Dance To Our Disco on the Kitsune label in Paris, this turned into an instant underground hit, played by countless DJ’s worldwide. The track features the mysterious guest vocalist Chalk Jaxon from Sweden (who according to some people is Howling Pelle from The Hives, this is a rumor yet to be confirmed). For some reason the DIY ethos spread with the record and everywhere they went to play after the release fans seemed to have made their homemade Punks Jump Up t-shirts!
Punks Jump Up have always been into making music with a rough edge but with a good hook. PJU love the underground, cutting edge DIY scene but has never shied away from a good melody. They have proven this by remixing acts like Miike Snow (The PJU remix of their song Animal has now got more than one million plays on Youtube), Gossip, Crystal Castles, Lykke Li, Kele, Robyn, Tiga, Yelle, Peter Bjorn & John & now latest Ladytron and all turning their songs into very distinctive dance floor gems.
In between the constant touring to pretty much every country in Europe, Australia, Mexico & Singapore they have been relentlessly working on new music. This has led to the new single Blockhead, a heavily percussive dance music number. Blockhead has got a story of it’s own (see above) and was played all through the summer – 10 by 2ManyDJ’s as a part of their Under The Covers tour, with the distinctive animations that accompanied each track. Punks Jump Up’s constant traveling and gigging has made them a lot of friends and this shows well on the production of the forthcoming PJU album, it will feature guest appearances by artists like Chromeo, DVNO (of Justice DVNO fame), Black Kids, We Have Band & Men (ex Le Tigre).
JODIE HARSH
Jodie Harsh is recognised internationally as a house music DJ with an extra splash of glamour.
Harsh has played sets at Glastonbury, Pacha Ibiza and across Europe and remixes and produces. Her own production is in progress, set to set dance floors on fire in Summer 2011.
Harsh is the brains behind Circus, the monthly club night in London which has featured shows from Roisin Murphy, The XX, Mr Hudson and William Orbit. Never one to stand still, plans are underway to expand the Circus brand further afield.
WARBOY
DJ/ Producer/ Promoter Jim Warboy is firmly established as a leading figure in London’s club scene having been closely involved in some of the city’s most definitive nights over the past eight years. DJ Mag picked him out as ‘one of alternative clubland’s greatest forces who is constantly ahead of the curve’.
DJ/ PRODUCER
Warboy’s DJ sets are eclectic and draw on anything from acid, tech and tribal house. They have a strong percussive and vocal content sat on deep basslines. He has played in many countries across the world and at many of London’s musically progressive nights.
He has played at some of London’s most respected nights for progressive and interesting dance, including Trailer Trash, Bastard Batty Bass, Wet Yourself, Always Fridays, Get Rude, All You Can Eat, Anti-Social, and Kash Point.
As well as playing internationally, he has played in many of London’s established clubs including Ministry of Sound, Fabric, 333, Heaven, and Egg.
He has worked extensively with Time Out’s Performer Of The Year, Scottee, and they are currently restaging a one-man musical written in collaboration with writing partner pianist Nigel Stewart.
In fashion circles, he has produced music and soundtracks for fashion shows including Britain’s Next Top Model, Ziad Ghanem, Machine-A, Rui Leonardes, and a number of shows at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.
He recently produced the acid-tripping disco track ‘I Am’, featuring performer and Vogue cover star Andre J. It is currently available on Hannah Holland’s Batty Bass Records.
KRIS DI ANGELIS
Kris is currently garnering attention for his latest release with Tom Stephan, entitled ‘Hot Mess’ and released on Southern Fried, while picking up props for his remixes of The Shoes, Lily Allen and Roisin Murphy, which all came from his scurrilously good bootlegs of Kylie, Groove Armada, Madonna, Empire Of The Sun, Ladyhawke, and Daft Punk.
Kris’s residencies at Pooldisco, and Jodie Harsh’s club night, Circus, have seen him providing the weekend soundtrack for London’s fashion, media, and club crowd, playing alongside everyone from Riva Starr, William Orbit, Filthy Dukes and Roisin Murphy, to Jesse J, Horse Meat Disco, Thomas Gandey and Hercules & Love Affair.
His sets at Bestival and Manchester’s Warehouse Project caught the ears of punters and industry alike, while regular slots at Fabric, Space, Trailer Trash, Bungalow 8, Dalston Superstore, and Cargo, have ensured he can be found rocking the capital several nights a week.
Continuing the fashion/music axis, he’s produced music for catwalk shows in New York, London, and Milan. But his biggest coup to date was his role as official DJ for London Fashion Week, partnering with Sony Music.
DJing with Traktor has allowed him to rearrange the rulebook into his personal scrapbook. His infamous live remixes/bootlegs feature everything from Herve and The Italo Boyz to Skream, Cut Copy, Bjork and Marlena Shaw, mirroring the way crowds now approach the dancefloor with open minds. There are no sacred cows and everything is up for grabs.
He also has a monthly radio show on Ronnie Scotts’ station, which gives him the opportunity to indulge his love of old soul and funk.
ANDY BLAKE
Something of a modern day iconoclast, Andy helped redefine the modern dance music record label with Dissident, pushing out over 60 12″ releases in just over two years with scant regard for musical boundaries and the accepted version of the right way to do things. His monthly night in Brixton, World Unknown, is currently doing something similar in party form.
As a DJ, Andy has an enviable knack of pulling together music from a wide variety of sources and weaving it into an exciting magic carpet ride. Always unpredictable but ever-reliable in his ability to send the dancefloor somewhere special.
JOE ROBERTS
Opening the year playing to 6,000 people in the Brazilian rainforest (then a further 2,000 the weekend after), Joe Roberts continues 2011’s international diary with March gigs in Rio and Miami.
Ex-resident at Chew the Fat!, purveyor of all things bass, he was also Lounge resident at London’s dearly departed The End with his night No Way Back while new roving invite-only party Ecstasy Garage Disco, which draws on a golden age state of mind, has been rocking London’s underground for the last year.
Joe is Comin’ Up editor for DJmag and runs online magazine DJ Weekly.
TASTY TIM
TASTY TIM, the glamorous club doyenne, original gender-bender and perennial club ornament, is also an in demand DJ and producer.
He has been an influential character spanning all the decades since the 80s at notorious London hangouts, with residencies and regular spots at Heaven, Kinky Gerlinky, The Cock, Cha Cha, the Mud Club, Trannyshack, and Phat Bitch.
His musical taste, always a step ahead, helped start up the renowned London electro club THE COCK, where the Scissor Sisters performed their first UK gig.
Current residencies include Trannyshack and the bitch house night Phat Bitch at East London’s hugely popular venue Dalston Superstore.
Tasty Tim uniquely combines glamour, grooves and NYC styled vintage house to fuel a packed dancefloor.
Tasty is also one half of production duo: T-Total, whose remixing credits include; The Pet shop Boys, Danny Tenaglia, Cevin Fisher, The Ones and Marc Almond.
PRESSPLAY_DJ
Pressplay_dj (This is not a rave!)
When not messing about in his studio doing reworks and edits, Pressplay likes to do the odd mash up dj set. He’s a diehard indie fan turned to the dark side of electro-dance music.
Growing fast in the London scene, Pressplay spans genres, and has played alongside the likes of Basement Jaxx, Trevor Loveys and Andy George all the way to indie new tones The Maccabees and My Tiger My Timing. Now working on his first original productions, with influences from Fidget, Indie and Electro expect the unexpected and get ready to dance!
TOM DAVEY
Tom Davey is a fresh face on the London scene. Having spent the past few years honing his skills by playing at other UK cities and producing mixes for the stylish Eivissa bars in Ibiza, he is now set to become a significant contributor to the capital’s club scene. He has developed a unique tech house sound that absorbs and reshapes some of the most forward thinking ideas currently emerging.
HOST BIOGS
ANDRE J
Andre J is the kind of larger-than-life personality that is difficult to contain. Whether making history on the cover of Vogue Paris or giving a self-esteem boost to young girls on New York’s Lower East Side, it’s impossible not to be mesmerized by Andre’s infectiously positive outlook on life.
A native of New Jersey, Andre conquered New York’s nightlife and fashion world in red lipstick, cat suits and killer heels. Andre earned so much notoriety as a party promoter, entertainer, muse and all-around downtown personality that he attracted industry greats such as Patricia Field, Tyra Banks, Nicola Formichetti and the duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin with that glamorous, genderless personal style.
Andre J made and instant impression in London and became the host of the fashion elite’s disco night Caligula.
The acid-tripping disco track ‘I AM’ that he created with DJ/ Producer Warboy has recently been released on Hannah Holland’s Batty Bass Records label.
MUNROE BERGDORF
Munroe Bergdorf is the face and sound behind some of London’s freshest and most exciting parties. When not behind the decks, Bergdorf can be found modeling for a number high-end fashion houses, such as Ziad Ghanem, which selected Munroe to be both a face of the AW10 Couture collection and to walk in the London Fashion Week runway show for their SS11 collection.
PERFORMER BIOGS
SCOTTEE
Scottee is at the forefront of new performance and cabaret in the UK. He has performed at some of the worlds most prestigious galleries & theatres including: Tate Britain & Modern; ICA; Whitechapel Gallery; Royal Festival Hall, Royal Opera House and Roundhouse.
As well as gracing the pages of Dazed & Confused, Independent, i-D, W and Sunday Times Style, he was also included in i-D magazine’s 100 portraits by Nick Knight 2009 & won title of TimeOut Performer of 2010.
He has broken limbs, been questioned by Police and lost 100′s of pairs of high heels in his determination to please and challenge his audience. His brash, clumsy and obnoxious approach to performance has left them confused, annoyed and amused. Whatever you think of Scottee -- he probably won’t care.
Scottee is also Artistic Director of Eat Your Heart Out collective. Through this he continues to change the way we view cabaret and light entertainment to a five star level (WhatsOnStage, Three Weeks & Hairline). As Dazed & Confused magazine put it ‘watch out, Scottee’s taking over’.
‘Scottees audience control is that of the music hall greats’
- WhatsOnStage, 2010
‘London’s most experimental rising talent’
- Timeout, 2009

PROMOTER BIOG
DJ/ Producer/ Promoter Jim Warboy is firmly established as a leading figure in London’s club scene having been closely involved in some of the city’s most definitive nights over the past eight years. DJ Mag picked him out as ‘one of alternative clubland’s greatest forces who is constantly ahead of the curve’.
SOS: Save Our Souls is Warboy’s fresh clubbing experience and its DJ Mag dubbed the gutsy NYE 12-hour launch party as ‘the final destination for London’s true party heads.
In a short space of time the uplifting atmosphere at SOS has already shaken up the London’s trendy Shoreditch scene up with its signature mainroom catwalk shows, vogueing and waacking dancers, raunchy backroom cinema, and off-the-wall installations.
SOS attracts a wild mix of dressed up and dressed down fun lovers dancing the night away to underground house music reminiscent of late 80s/ early 90s gay clubs such as London’s Kinky Gerlinky and NYC Sound Factory.
Prior to this, Warboy launched Caligula in 2009 and made an instant impact within months. MTV marked it out as ‘the London answer to Studio 54’ and Vogue called it ‘one of London’s hottest fashion parties.’
The weekly party attracted many fashion industry people, as well as people with an interest in sexy disco and uplifting Hi-NRG. Guest DJs included Roisin Murphy, Andrew Butler and Kim Ann Foxman (both of Hercules And Love Affair), Mr C (Shamen), and Mark Moore (S’Express). Warboy finished with Caligula at the end of 2010 to make way for his fresh club project SOS: Save Our Souls.
All You Can Eat was one of the leading club nights around Nu Rave that Warboy promoted with K-tron. Within months of its launch in January 2006 i-D magazine had identified the impact it’s warehouse bashes were having tagging it ‘the Taboo of the generation’. Regular faces included MIA, Cassette Playa, and Lady Gaga stylist Anna Trevelyan.
Previously Warboy co-promoted Matthew Glamorre’s legendary avant dress-up club Kash Point. This club attracted many fashion and art students and presented some of designers Gareth Pugh and Cassette Playas earliest fashion shows.
