Foster the people – Pumped Up Kicks (Acid Invaders Remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMkP1c4ls0s

Acid Invaders re-introduce their quirky first release ‘RAVE ON KIDS”, which notched up a diverse cast of tastemaker fans including Radio 1’s Scott Mills, XFM’s Eddy Temple-Morris alongside Djuma Soundsystem, Edith Bowman (Tweet) and The Infadels.
Revamped for 2012 with a cast of international newcomers,  remixes come from Healium, The Room Small, Wildpuppet, Scallywhack, and Pourtex.

The opening acid meets vocal clash is geared towards radio whilst the rest of the mixes provide a snapshot of whats happening on today’s dancefloors. The Copland Mix hits the floor running meshing a funky acidic groove with housey keys with tight tech beats, guaranteed to keep things jumping.
Tokyo’s The Room Small Remix stands out with its Italo-disco meets tech style groove fused with layers of infectious acid synths and charged beats tearing up dancefloors in its wake.
Heading into darker territory, Holland’s Scallywhack Remix strips it down to raw techno, fusing acidic loops, tuff beats and shades of vintage Detroit making for a compelling workout.
Finland’s Healium Remix bounces and bobs in groove-laden drum looped style,  tweeking the 303 basslines they’re so well known for and keeping it spacey with lashings of funky bass n’ acid.  And the Acid Invaders original Club Mix rounds off this unmissable acid techno set.

Acid Invaders have had an exciting first year, releasing two singles, “Rave On Kids” and “Change”, as well as re-working LCD Soundsystem’s “Tribulations” track, a hommage to the former great band, which has become something of a hit on internet blogs.
As well as playing Belgium’s famous F.U.S.E club, recently the Invaders were at the Mirano club in Brussels alongside Detroit legend, Kevin Saunderson. On hearing their “Change” track, Saunderson jumped on it and offered to remix it, and its been a steady seller since its November release and is still building on dancefloors around the globe. Acid Invaders shot the video for “Change” at the Egg club in London as well as hitting October’s ADE in Amsterdam.

Hailing from the cradle of New Beat and underground Techno,  the Acid Invaders breathe their own European digital air. After having played in numerous successful musical projects, the trio decided to bring acid 2.0 style into the open.  A true acid live act, injected with robotic voices, dark haunting melodies, strongly-built climaxes, abstract hypnotism and in-your-face techno it’s already starting to detonate international dancefloors. Fom their acclaimed first release, “Rave on Kids,  their Remix for UK production duo Jordan & Santero on”Roboparty” (Top Billin, Finland),  Acid Invaders are coming to a city near you soon..

SOS present GOD SAVE OUR SCENE

Sunday 1st May 2011 Warboy & Andre J live:
On Sunday 1st May innovative London promoter Jim Warboy and his Save Our Souls team is taking over Egg nightclub to present a one-off night God Save Our Scene. This will be the Bank Holiday party of the weekend and will gather together some of London’s wildest, sexiest and most flamboyant characters to create a bash that will put the Royal couple’s wedding reception to shame.

Save Our Souls is the fresh clubbing experience that DJ Mag dubbed ’the final destination for London’s true party heads’ after its gutsy NYE 12hr launch party. In a short space of time it’s clear that SOS is already shaking up London’s in-the-know Shoreditch scene with it’s signature main room catwalk, off-the-wall installations, and raunchy backroom.

The night promises to deliver a unique combination of ideas that represent the kind of creativity that has continually kept London at the forefront of club music and fashion.

There will be three floors of music covering Electro house, Deep and Tech house, to the rapidly influential Vintage house, and SOS’s own Catwalk house delivered by a number of seasoned veterans, fashionable names, including Punks Jump Up, Jodie Harsh, Kris Di Angelis, Tasty Tim, and Warboy, plus other fresh-faced contenders to the throne.

Ensuring that this night will be elevated from the usual one dimensional club nights to a multi-dimensional experience will be the double-take tranny hosts, riotous performers, and Vogueing dancers, including Vogue cover star Andre J and Time Out ‘Performer of the Year’, Scottee.

Designer Andrew Bannister from fashion label Studio_805 will be showing pieces from his Warhol’s Factory inspired Autumn 2011/12 collection. ‘Studio_805 shot Andy Warhold- is all about fame, reflection and NYC go-go dancers.

Yes, the house music scene is truly having a renaissance but, whilst it may be sound like it’s going back to its roots, the mangled minds at SOS are growing a completely new offshoot. God Save Our Scene.

DJ BIOGS
PUNKS JUMP UP
Punks Jump Up came together in London as a mere accident a few years back. Joe, a born & bred Londoner & David, a Swede just off the boat, had bumped into each other on several occasions, mainly occasions that had to do with music, style & anything visual that looked cool. They both come from a background of punk & dance music, street art, fashion & style all wrapped up in DIY ethos.

Both eager to get their share of the creative chaos that is east London they were putting on their own parties for the freaks, proto hipsters, fashion victims & loonies in general who were loitering the area. This led to beautiful friendships with a lot of music & art eccentrics in the vicinity so they set up their own Cassette Records label as a vent for all the creativity that needed an outlet. The first Punks Jump Up EP – Be You (Beep Beep) on the Cassette label created a minor storm on the DIY dance scene in London and beyond and was played by the now lords of dance James Murphy & Erol Alkan. It got represented on BBC1 as Annie Mac & Chris Coco played the track to death. All this with no promotion – no pr. The Cassette Label released a handful of EPs by artists & remixers like Simian Mobile Disco & Zongamin.

Another aspect of DIY is the fashion side and PJU soon started their own t shirt label called Stiff Couture, they took on Kate Moross (the now well established self made illustrator & designer) who was the first one to make a t shirt for the label. Her t-shirt for Stiff Couture soon got heavily bootlegged in South East Asia & Russia alike (!!).

The second PJU track to be released was Dance To Our Disco on the Kitsune label in Paris, this turned into an instant underground hit, played by countless DJ’s worldwide. The track features the mysterious guest vocalist Chalk Jaxon from Sweden (who according to some people is Howling Pelle from The Hives, this is a rumor yet to be confirmed). For some reason the DIY ethos spread with the record and everywhere they went to play after the release fans seemed to have made their homemade Punks Jump Up t-shirts!

Punks Jump Up have always been into making music with a rough edge but with a good hook. PJU love the underground, cutting edge DIY scene but has never shied away from a good melody. They have proven this by remixing acts like Miike Snow (The PJU remix of their song Animal has now got more than one million plays on Youtube), Gossip, Crystal Castles, Lykke Li, Kele, Robyn, Tiga, Yelle, Peter Bjorn & John & now latest Ladytron and all turning their songs into very distinctive dance floor gems.

In between the constant touring to pretty much every country in Europe, Australia, Mexico & Singapore they have been relentlessly working on new music. This has led to the new single Blockhead, a heavily percussive dance music number. Blockhead has got a story of it’s own (see above) and was played all through the summer – 10 by 2ManyDJ’s as a part of their Under The Covers tour, with the distinctive animations that accompanied each track. Punks Jump Up’s constant traveling and gigging has made them a lot of friends and this shows well on the production of the forthcoming PJU album, it will feature guest appearances by artists like Chromeo, DVNO (of Justice DVNO fame), Black Kids, We Have Band & Men (ex Le Tigre).

JODIE HARSH

Jodie Harsh is recognised internationally as a house music DJ with an extra splash of glamour.

Harsh has played sets at Glastonbury, Pacha Ibiza and across Europe and remixes and produces. Her own production is in progress, set to set dance floors on fire in Summer 2011.

Harsh is the brains behind Circus, the monthly club night in London which has featured shows from Roisin Murphy, The XX, Mr Hudson and William Orbit. Never one to stand still, plans are underway to expand the Circus brand further afield.

WARBOY

DJ/ Producer/ Promoter Jim Warboy is firmly established as a leading figure in London’s club scene having been closely involved in some of the city’s most definitive nights over the past eight years. DJ Mag picked him out as ‘one of alternative clubland’s greatest forces who is constantly ahead of the curve’.

DJ/ PRODUCER
Warboy’s DJ sets are eclectic and draw on anything from acid, tech and tribal house. They have a strong percussive and vocal content sat on deep basslines. He has played in many countries across the world and at many of London’s musically progressive nights.

He has played at some of London’s most respected nights for progressive and interesting dance, including Trailer Trash, Bastard Batty Bass, Wet Yourself, Always Fridays, Get Rude, All You Can Eat, Anti-Social, and Kash Point.

As well as playing internationally, he has played in many of London’s established clubs including Ministry of Sound, Fabric, 333, Heaven, and Egg.

He has worked extensively with Time Out’s Performer Of The Year, Scottee, and they are currently restaging a one-man musical written in collaboration with writing partner pianist Nigel Stewart.

In fashion circles, he has produced music and soundtracks for fashion shows including Britain’s Next Top Model, Ziad Ghanem, Machine-A, Rui Leonardes, and a number of shows at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

He recently produced the acid-tripping disco track ‘I Am’, featuring performer and Vogue cover star Andre J. It is currently available on Hannah Holland’s Batty Bass Records.

KRIS DI ANGELIS
Kris is currently garnering attention for his latest release with Tom Stephan, entitled ‘Hot Mess’ and released on Southern Fried, while picking up props for his remixes of The Shoes, Lily Allen and Roisin Murphy, which all came from his scurrilously good bootlegs of Kylie, Groove Armada, Madonna, Empire Of The Sun, Ladyhawke, and Daft Punk.

Kris’s residencies at Pooldisco, and Jodie Harsh’s club night, Circus, have seen him providing the weekend soundtrack for London’s fashion, media, and club crowd, playing alongside everyone from Riva Starr, William Orbit, Filthy Dukes and Roisin Murphy, to Jesse J, Horse Meat Disco, Thomas Gandey and Hercules & Love Affair.

His sets at Bestival and Manchester’s Warehouse Project caught the ears of punters and industry alike, while regular slots at Fabric, Space, Trailer Trash, Bungalow 8, Dalston Superstore, and Cargo, have ensured he can be found rocking the capital several nights a week.

Continuing the fashion/music axis, he’s produced music for catwalk shows in New York, London, and Milan. But his biggest coup to date was his role as official DJ for London Fashion Week, partnering with Sony Music.

DJing with Traktor has allowed him to rearrange the rulebook into his personal scrapbook. His infamous live remixes/bootlegs feature everything from Herve and The Italo Boyz to Skream, Cut Copy, Bjork and Marlena Shaw, mirroring the way crowds now approach the dancefloor with open minds. There are no sacred cows and everything is up for grabs.

He also has a monthly radio show on Ronnie Scotts’ station, which gives him the opportunity to indulge his love of old soul and funk.

ANDY BLAKE

Something of a modern day iconoclast, Andy helped redefine the modern dance music record label with Dissident, pushing out over 60 12″ releases in just over two years with scant regard for musical boundaries and the accepted version of the right way to do things. His monthly night in Brixton, World Unknown, is currently doing something similar in party form.

As a DJ, Andy has an enviable knack of pulling together music from a wide variety of sources and weaving it into an exciting magic carpet ride. Always unpredictable but ever-reliable in his ability to send the dancefloor somewhere special.

JOE ROBERTS

Opening the year playing to 6,000 people in the Brazilian rainforest (then a further 2,000 the weekend after), Joe Roberts continues 2011’s international diary with March gigs in Rio and Miami.

Ex-resident at Chew the Fat!, purveyor of all things bass, he was also Lounge resident at London’s dearly departed The End with his night No Way Back while new roving invite-only party Ecstasy Garage Disco, which draws on a golden age state of mind, has been rocking London’s underground for the last year.

Joe is Comin’ Up editor for DJmag and runs online magazine DJ Weekly.

TASTY TIM

TASTY TIM, the glamorous club doyenne, original gender-bender and perennial club ornament, is also an in demand DJ and producer.

He has been an influential character spanning all the decades since the 80s at notorious London hangouts, with residencies and regular spots at Heaven, Kinky Gerlinky, The Cock, Cha Cha, the Mud Club, Trannyshack, and Phat Bitch.

His musical taste, always a step ahead, helped start up the renowned London electro club THE COCK, where the Scissor Sisters performed their first UK gig.

Current residencies include Trannyshack and the bitch house night Phat Bitch at East London’s hugely popular venue Dalston Superstore.

Tasty Tim uniquely combines glamour, grooves and NYC styled vintage house to fuel a packed dancefloor.

Tasty is also one half of production duo: T-Total, whose remixing credits include; The Pet shop Boys, Danny Tenaglia, Cevin Fisher, The Ones and Marc Almond.

PRESSPLAY_DJ
Pressplay_dj (This is not a rave!)

When not messing about in his studio doing reworks and edits, Pressplay likes to do the odd mash up dj set. He’s a diehard indie fan turned to the dark side of electro-dance music.

Growing fast in the London scene, Pressplay spans genres, and has played alongside the likes of Basement Jaxx, Trevor Loveys and Andy George all the way to indie new tones The Maccabees and My Tiger My Timing. Now working on his first original productions, with influences from Fidget, Indie and Electro expect the unexpected and get ready to dance!

TOM DAVEY

Tom Davey is a fresh face on the London scene. Having spent the past few years honing his skills by playing at other UK cities and producing mixes for the stylish Eivissa bars in Ibiza, he is now set to become a significant contributor to the capital’s club scene. He has developed a unique tech house sound that absorbs and reshapes some of the most forward thinking ideas currently emerging.

HOST BIOGS

ANDRE J

Andre J is the kind of larger-than-life personality that is difficult to contain. Whether making history on the cover of Vogue Paris or giving a self-esteem boost to young girls on New York’s Lower East Side, it’s impossible not to be mesmerized by Andre’s infectiously positive outlook on life.

A native of New Jersey, Andre conquered New York’s nightlife and fashion world in red lipstick, cat suits and killer heels. Andre earned so much notoriety as a party promoter, entertainer, muse and all-around downtown personality that he attracted industry greats such as Patricia Field, Tyra Banks, Nicola Formichetti and the duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin with that glamorous, genderless personal style.

Andre J made and instant impression in London and became the host of the fashion elite’s disco night Caligula.

The acid-tripping disco track ‘I AM’ that he created with DJ/ Producer Warboy has recently been released on Hannah Holland’s Batty Bass Records label.

MUNROE BERGDORF

Munroe Bergdorf is the face and sound behind some of London’s freshest and most exciting parties. When not behind the decks, Bergdorf can be found modeling for a number high-end fashion houses, such as Ziad Ghanem, which selected Munroe to be both a face of the AW10 Couture collection and to walk in the London Fashion Week runway show for their SS11 collection.

PERFORMER BIOGS

SCOTTEE

Scottee is at the forefront of new performance and cabaret in the UK. He has performed at some of the worlds most prestigious galleries & theatres including: Tate Britain & Modern; ICA; Whitechapel Gallery; Royal Festival Hall, Royal Opera House and Roundhouse.

As well as gracing the pages of Dazed & Confused, Independent, i-D, W and Sunday Times Style, he was also included in i-D magazine’s 100 portraits by Nick Knight 2009 & won title of TimeOut Performer of 2010.

He has broken limbs, been questioned by Police and lost 100′s of pairs of high heels in his determination to please and challenge his audience. His brash, clumsy and obnoxious approach to performance has left them confused, annoyed and amused. Whatever you think of Scottee -- he probably won’t care.

Scottee is also Artistic Director of Eat Your Heart Out collective. Through this he continues to change the way we view cabaret and light entertainment to a five star level (WhatsOnStage, Three Weeks & Hairline). As Dazed & Confused magazine put it ‘watch out, Scottee’s taking over’.

‘Scottees audience control is that of the music hall greats’
- WhatsOnStage, 2010

‘London’s most experimental rising talent’
- Timeout, 2009

STUDIO_805

Progessive menswear and unisex design label studio_805 is driven by Andrew Bannister, a first class fashion graduate from Leeds College of Art & Design who relocated to London in Winter 2008 to begin his calculated exercise in sartorial fun.

Bannister honed his pattern cutting skills whilst on placement at Vivienne Westwood and has since developed a signature style fusing cunning cut, clever colour and choice cloth. studio_805 launched at London Fashion Week in February 2009 as part of Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s first ever ‘Ones to Watch’ initiative.

PROMOTER BIOG

DJ/ Producer/ Promoter Jim Warboy is firmly established as a leading figure in London’s club scene having been closely involved in some of the city’s most definitive nights over the past eight years. DJ Mag picked him out as ‘one of alternative clubland’s greatest forces who is constantly ahead of the curve’.

SOS: Save Our Souls is Warboy’s fresh clubbing experience and its DJ Mag dubbed the gutsy NYE 12-hour launch party as ‘the final destination for London’s true party heads.

In a short space of time the uplifting atmosphere at SOS has already shaken up the London’s trendy Shoreditch scene up with its signature mainroom catwalk shows, vogueing and waacking dancers, raunchy backroom cinema, and off-the-wall installations.

SOS attracts a wild mix of dressed up and dressed down fun lovers dancing the night away to underground house music reminiscent of late 80s/ early 90s gay clubs such as London’s Kinky Gerlinky and NYC Sound Factory.

Prior to this, Warboy launched Caligula in 2009 and made an instant impact within months. MTV marked it out as ‘the London answer to Studio 54’ and Vogue called it ‘one of London’s hottest fashion parties.’

The weekly party attracted many fashion industry people, as well as people with an interest in sexy disco and uplifting Hi-NRG. Guest DJs included Roisin Murphy, Andrew Butler and Kim Ann Foxman (both of Hercules And Love Affair), Mr C (Shamen), and Mark Moore (S’Express). Warboy finished with Caligula at the end of 2010 to make way for his fresh club project SOS: Save Our Souls.

All You Can Eat was one of the leading club nights around Nu Rave that Warboy promoted with K-tron. Within months of its launch in January 2006 i-D magazine had identified the impact it’s warehouse bashes were having tagging it ‘the Taboo of the generation’. Regular faces included MIA, Cassette Playa, and Lady Gaga stylist Anna Trevelyan.

Previously Warboy co-promoted Matthew Glamorre’s legendary avant dress-up club Kash Point. This club attracted many fashion and art students and presented some of designers Gareth Pugh and Cassette Playas earliest fashion shows.

“MAFFIA NEVER SLEEPS EP” (INTRODUCE RECORDS)

mixes include Jordan & Santero Remix, Copland & Dimitri Andreas (Systematic)

youtube : Rave on Kids video

live show and visuals:
http://www.vimeo.com/13279016

Following on from their acclaimed first release, the excellent “Rave on Kids” in October 2010, which numbered fans such as the Infadels, Eddie Temple-Morris and Radio 1’s new music man, Huw Stephens, the Belgium trio Acid Invaders are back with another twisted dancefloor bomb, “Maffia Never Sleeps”.

Its dark stomping beats and cyclic haunting acid lines hint at a dark New Jersey stripjoint at 4am…“This is Newark, Stripping at Bada Bing, Italians do it better, Mafia never sleeps”…

Alongside the killer bouncy Original, “Maffia Never Sleeps’, Pete Jordan & Santero deliver their acclaimed catchy house rhythms and mad Balearic stylings with their Remix. After his heavily supported “Rave on Kids” Remix, Copland returns with another bright piano lick that will definitely bring back some housey NYC memories.  And Systematic Recordings’ on fire producer, Dimitri Andreas, rounds this set off in more minimalistic style, all soulful afro beats and ghostly voodoo vocals. “Maffia Never Sleeps” stands out from the crowd with its bouncy acid grooves and twisted vocal sample. Don’t sleep..

Acid has never disappeared and has kept electronic music alive for the last 20 years. Acid Invaders know this all too well.

Hailing from the cradle of New Beat and underground Techno,  the new Acid Invaders project breathes its own European digital air. After having played in numerous successful musical projects, the trio decided to bring acid 2.0 style into the open.  Their true acid live act, injected with robotic voices, dark haunting melodies, strongly-built climaxes, abstract hypnotism and in-your-face techno is already starting to detonate international dancefloors. Following Acid Invader‘s recent Remix for UK production duo Jordan & Santero on their track “Roboparty” (Top Billin, Finland), “Maffia Never Sleeps” is the new turn of the wheel. Acid Invaders coming to a city near you…. http://www.acidinvaders.co.uk/ http://www.myspace.com/acidinvaders/

“Maffia Never Sleeps” is the  tune from Acid Invaders and out mid-April on Introduce Records, and distributed by Zebralution in both CD and Digital formats. Cat No:  Introduce 004. For CD’s and to book your place with the Acid Invaders, please call Nicky Trax on 020 8959 9131/07951 128001 or Jo on 020 7209 1236. e: nicky@phuturetrax.co.uk or jo.phuture@blueyonder.co.uk

Reviews: Annie Nightingale (BBC Radio 1):
Really well made, sure it will be massive at acid raves!

Robert Babicz (Systematic): Nice track!

HBF review (UK):
Acid Invaders are back  – they’ve been steadily gaining quite a name for themselves with their unique brand of Acid House.
If you liked Boys Noise’s ‘Acid Compilation’ then this will be right up your street – hypnotic to say the least, call it Acid 2.0 if you will.

The Get Downnn review (USA):

Belgium-based trio, Acid Invaders, are just a few weeks out from releasing their latest official single, and although we’re still a ways away from getting our hands on a copy of it, the Invaders were kind enough to tide us over with a brand spankin’ new mix tape.
Featuring 12 ridiculously funky nu acid tracks and clocking in at just over an hour,
Acid Invaders’ March mix is one that you don’t want to pass up.
Finishing up chores around the house? This’ll make it better.
Just lounging? This’ll make it better.

Ricky Rich (Italy): Bomb track, good rhythm perfect for the dancefloor

Sean McCaff (MFMN) (NL): Nice bouncy invading sound

Track : Rave On Kids/Should Have Known Better

Djuma Soundsystem -- Nice fusion between disco and acid!

Edith Bowman (BBC Radio 1 UK) -- Going bonkers to a track called ‘Rave on Kids” by Acid
Invaders. It’s totally banging!

Infadels -- Already getting my vibe on for DJing this Thurs at Club Remix thanks to
Acid Invaders’ “Rave On KIds”. Tune!

Nigel Harding (BBC Radio 1 UK) -- I really loved the track!
Eddy Temple-Morris (XFM radio UK) -  Am playing it on my show
Graham Clark (Maximum FM UK) -- Played the track twice so far and have received great reactions.
Simon Long (Kiss 100 UK) -- Really like this. Are there more mixes?
Philippa (Huw Stephens) (BBC Radio 1 UK) -- like this track, reminds me of ‘Flat Eric’!

PERVERTED AUDIO featuring ZOO BRAZIL @ Egg Club

Saturday March 26th 2011
One DJ/Producer that everyone hasn’t stopped talking about and whose podcast on the Perverted Audio iTunes series was downloaded over 2,000 times in less than a week, is no less than ZOO BRAZIL.

Zoo Brazil aka John Andersson has been producing and writing music since the age of 11, and has released over 100 singles under such monikers as Laid, Cuba Computers, Nars, The Kelly Project, The Wiggs and Outcold.  John continues to work with and remix some of electronic music’s most influential artists including Moby, Tiesto, Fatboy Slim, the Human League and Nitin Sawhney as well as a host of the most respected and credible ‘underground’ dance acts such as James Holden [Border Community], Ian Pooley, Rex the Dog [Hundehaus], Blaze, Dirty Vegas, Zoot Woman/Stuart Price [Madonna's producer] and many more.

Zoo Brazil is joined by Big In Ibiza’s Chris Mimo and in Room 2 check out the Italian techno house sounds of Marco Faraone. His early production “Arabia” was signed by Alex Neri’s Tenax label, followed by the “Meat Pack EP” with Luca Agnelli on the Monacalda label, which brought lots of new international DJ attention. Marco then established contact with Loco Dice and sent him an unreleased re-edit track, which became a staple in Dice’s sets for six months straight. Once fellow Desolat artist Arado heard it, he was so impressed that he contacted Marco to give it a proper pressing on All Inn Records. By the end of the year, Marco also had a new 12” ready, the “Want Life Time EP” which reached the No 1 position on leading international online shop, Decks.
Marco is currently working on a 4 track E.P for Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour Records, and he is joined by Malta’s influential underground house DJ, Cortez Esperanza, laying downdeep house, techno and electronic grooves. Key Of Life Presents Joey Negro (Z Records)/Hobo (Minus Records)

Saturday 2nd April 2011 10pm-10am
Joey Negro AKA Dave Lee, is one of the most respected, prolific and original artists in the industry, who has enjoyed widespread success straddling both the commercial and underground scenes. Joey Negro is Dave Lee’s best known pseudonym and it is through this, and a plethora of additional monikers, that has seen him become one of the world’s most successful artists.

As an artist Dave Lee has always been a pioneer. He was one of the first artists to incorporate disco samples in house music when he began his production career and is now widely regarded as one of the most commercially successful and in-demand artists on the global scene. Under his array of production aliases – that include Jakatta, Akabu, Sessomatto, Doug Willis, Raven Maize, The Sunburst Band, Z Factor and AC Soul Symphony as well as Joey Negro and Dave Lee – he has been involved with over 200 releases including several acclaimed albums and 12 UK pop crossovers.

Dave is nothing but a true professional. In 1992 he was crowned ‘Best UK Remixer’ by both DMC/Mixmag and DJ Magazine and has also been recognised as one of the most influential figures in dance music by I-DJ Magazine. Since 1991 he has run the highly successful Z Records which continues to go from strength to strength and has featured tracks and remixes from the likes of Ame, Basement Jaxx, MAW and Jimpster, with many highly anticipated projects in the pipeline.

As a DJ, Joey Negro is hot property; his eclectic sound delivered in mind-blowing performances has graced many of the world’s hottest nightspots on a regular basis. He is an MN2S resident DJ regularly rocking the spot at The End (London) and El Divino (Ibiza). Recently he travelled across the world playing gigs in China, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Dubai, Denmark, France and Holland as well as touring extensively throughout the UK. Mixing up many genres, personal re-edits and mixes classics with the freshest new cuts – in short, a Joey Negro DJ set is one in million.

Hobo: Sometimes you have to lose yourself in order to find a better way. It’s not a conscious decision, it can’t be forced – it’s just the way of the wanderer…the hobo. Joel Boychuk knows this more than most, having travelled halfway around the world in search of musical inspiration only to return home and find it waiting on his doorstep…

Growing up in Sarnia about an hour’s drive from Detroit, Joel first connected with electronic music through Kraftwerk who in turn stimulated his interest in the rich techno landscape just a stone’s throw away. Jeff Mills and Juan Atkins were particularly influential but it was Plastikman’s Sheet One that really sealed the deal, inspiring him to start building his own loops and samples. He was soon hooking up for laptop jam sessions with Adam Young after high school and the pair gradually evolved into Tractile.

Regular trips to Untitled at Detroit’s Shelter club followed and it was there that he tentatively handed Clark Warner the first Tractile demo. Richie Hawtin soon got wind of their potential and suddenly the prospect of a Minus release was on the table. For an 18-year-old kid this was mind-blowing and a deal was eventually struck at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2005. Tractile’s Silent Movie EP on Minus was a memorable affair of action packed tunes that hurtled forward, effortlessly shifting from rough angular beats to flowing, floor-friendly grooves at the flick of a switch. After relocating to Berlin, spending a whirlwind 13 months touring Europe, soaking up the city’s electric atmosphere and collecting invaluable experience, Joel felt the constant traveling around, from show to show seemed to be disrupting the collaborative process. Soon after, Joel decided to follow his instincts andreturn home to pursue his own musical vision and develop his own identity.

That identity or alter ego is Hobo and it came about in a Yurt (a Mongolian tent) somewhere deep in The Pinery – a National Park close to his home in Sarnia, Canada where he spent a week last winter writing his new EP From A to B. It was a bold move, embarking on a solo career and faced with the challenge of writing alone for the first time. He ventured into the wilderness not knowing what he would find. With his laptop perched on a plastic picnic table and living purely off maple syrup and water, he shook off the shackles of modern life and wandered alone through the woods, losing himself in both a spiritual and physical sense in order to harness the moment when subjective thought is overwhelmed by objectivity, and then somehow translate it into music. It’s a deeply personal, exploratory approach to the creative process built on the belief that the more you put yourself into the music, the greater the chance the listener will get something meaningful out. The result is a collection of individual, almost stand-alone tracks defined by perception and experience. Joel freely admits that there’s more emotion in this new body of work, a more vivid sense of life brought about by his close proximity to nature while recording. It’s a process he intends to recreate in the future at equally inspiring locations around the world as and when the hobo in his heart yearns for more adventure.

Supperclub London

supperclub london
“a new adult playground awaits”  ViewLondon

Having just celebrated its 1st Birthday, supperclub london continues to provoke and stimulate as one of the leading alternative evenings out in the capital.  Whether it be its unusual eating style and food service, eccentric performances, monthly Saturday afternoon Brunch gatherings, ever-changing visual art and solid musical soundtrack with DJ’s that ease it into a more clubby setting a few hours later,  supperclub london is something different to savour.

On entering supperclub, its sheer white Salle Neige space (the epicentre of supperclub) beckons with oversized beds upon where one reclines and dines after being introduced via the Bar Rouge, the upholstered take on a classic hotel bar, stocking some great cocktails including their own suppercane and French Kiss.  Working with contemporary, fresh and sometimes out there theatre, supperclub’s performers and hosts welcome supperclubbers in the Bar Rouge whilst the kitchen gets to work on its always surprising and fresh four-course tasting menu, which changes weekly.
Complete with a mezzanine area where diners have a bird’s eye view, this sheer white space also offers conventional table and chair dining.
Dutch born supperclub chef Bow Stoel’s menu is inspired by international supperclub locations, combining traditional and unusual flavours, and investing dishes with a memorable supperclub twist.  Delicate yet confident,  this is a veritable pandora’s box for your tastebuds.

Non-diners can also enjoy the Bar Rouge and become part of the night-time entertainment at supperclub when after dinner the furniture is re-arranged to create more space.  There is also the Bar Noir, a cosy space with its own entrance and an extensive champagne list, perfect for intimate gatherings and smaller private parties.

Whilst video projection in nightclubs may now be commonplace, it was supperclub where this idea originated, aware that music with moving images makes a deeper impression than without.  Music takes pride of place as an integral facet of the supperclub experience that completes the powerful trinity alongside performance and cuisine. The new era performances are varied, always provocative and unafraid to shock. Art Director, Giovanni Martins procures local and international talent, showcasing both recent discoveries and rising stars, including artists boasting impressive careers that span clubs and exhibitions at leading venues across the globe. Art exhibitions are staged regularly without fanfare, and supperclub’s creative quirkyness continues to run riot.

The most fun I have had in bed with my clothes on

Notes:
design: supperclub london was designed by Concrete, the Dutch design practice responsible for a number of internationally renowned projects including supperclub Singapore, Cinco Ceibas, Costa Rica and the Mercedes Benz Museum Stuttgart.
cuisine:
Born in Holland, Bow Stoel started cooking at the age of 14 and worked professionally as an intern for 2 years in only Michelin star restaurants
He beat 3000 other students to win a prize of excellence and at 16, was invited to finish his education in Osaka, Japan. Living there for 3 years, Bow obtained a master sushi and master chef degree and a teaching degree.
He then travelled to far flung islands such as Aruba,  Guadeloupe and Antigua where he was the executive chef for a well-know international chain of restaurants. From there Bow worked in New York as the executive chef of the Soho House Lower Manhattan and then to Paris where he set up a cooking school.
Arriving in London a few years ago Bow set up UK cooking school but decided to return to his beloved islands. Only a call from the supperclub could lure him back on English soil.
music: supperclub london’s musical director is Femi Fem, founder member of the Young Disciples, and lynchpin of the capital’s rare groove, funk and early urban scene.  Best known for the Disciples’ cult club anthem “Apparently Nothin” and the Mercury Nominated Album,  “Road To Freedom, Femi also ran the amazing Rotation party, which so impressed the supperclub owners on its Reunion event, they asked him to jump on board.
Femi is joined by Sam Hanbali, a long-standing DJ in the capital’s events and clubscene, playing tech house with a party flavour, alongside a changing cast of DJ’s including hot newcomers like Russell Jay, the son of Good Times head honcho and M.B.E holder,  Norman Jay and Delicious DJs, the Jensen Sisters . All the dj’s play a variety of funky sounds from loungey sets during dinner to the full-on party sounds for the club.
concept: “Every night is different. Whether it’s the food, music, performances, art, staff or the guests themselves, a supperclub evening is only a success if all five senses are stimulated. You can be yourself here, and let yourself go.” Bert van der Leden, CEO supperclub worldwide
The original supperclub was started by a group of young Amsterdam artists who squatted and created intense and unique art events over a number of days and nights in derelict warehouses in the late 1980s ,
Not having furniture, artistes took bedding with them and created and exchanged art and ideas over communally cooked dinners
From these artistic roots came the idea of supperclub, a desire to offer an event or evening that stimulates all of the senses, whilst imbuing a sense of magic and creativity about it. So oversubscribed were the original group that Bert van der Leden decided to give everyone an opportunity to partake in the creativity and decadence of the space and opened it to the public in 1992.
location: supperclub london opened on the site of another legendary institution, Subterrania – a venue that helped define London clubbing in the 90’s. Located under the Westway, at the more funky end of Portobello Road, supperclub evenings out are as exciting as they are memorable.

Your Traxx

Want To Make Your Own Track But Don’t Have A Studio Or  Confidence?
Got All The Ideas & Sounds But Not The Production Know-How Or Time?
Just Need That Extra Helping Hand To Bring Your Track To Life?

Then Look No Further than one stop professional internet Production Studio, Your Traxx

home to these Tried & Tested on dancefloor smashes that went on to be signed including  “Music Sounds Better With You” by the Ruff Loaderz Vs Cut Up Boys (Phonetic Recordings) and “Sexy Dancer” by Rockford Files (Sukka)

Your Traxx

Your Traxx is the first internet production studio to offer budding producers a chance to make their own tracks with headed up by experienced in-house producer and founder, Julian Napolitano.
This is a brand new concept for busy up-and-coming aspiring producers/DJ’s that would like to co-produce new tracks without having to sit in a studio for days upon end. With this Internet-based recording studio, you will produce your own track within approximately 2 days, which you’ll be able to oversee from the comfort of your own home or mobile phone for an extremely reasonable introduction rate of £300.
His professional one-stop production service synthesises your ideas, his production know how and time, with the idea being sent back over the internet for your to listen to before being finally tweaked into a finished track. And best of all its not going to cost you anything until you like what you hear!

How it works;
Liaising directly with Julian, discuss your ideas on the kind of direction and vibe that you want to take your track in. You will need to find a selection of samples or ideas that you would like to use with a couple of your favourite tracks in a similar genre as a reference.

You will then be sent a 1:30 snippet of your track to get a feel of how it sounds and builds to ensure that you are happy with the overall vibe.  There will be a £70 deposit payable once you are happy that Your Traxx has got the right sound for your production.
At the next stage you will be sent a low quality mp3 of approximately 4 minutes long and you will have the opportunity to listen to your track live with Julian on Skype.  You can then make any changes and further check the flow of the production and then discuss any final changes and tweaks that are needed. Once you are happy with your production the completion cost of £230 will need to be paid. Once full payment has been received you will be sent a 24 bit mastered wav, MP3 and a Club and Radio mix of the production. Further mixes can be worked out for a small additional cost.

If once you have played the track in a club or in your own studio, you find that having listened to the production with fresh ears you would like to make minor tweaks we can also offer this further service at the additional cost of £50.

Your Traxx is also great if you’re on the move or busy working and find you havent got the time to finish off a musical idea. Your Traxx can producing a solid demo for you while you work, using the net and Skype to iron out any changes.

Your Traxx has already proved itself on the dancefloor with Phonetic’s big summer re-vamp,  “Music Sounds Better With You”  by the Ruff Loaderz Vs Cut Up Boys. Nick from the Cut Up boys called Julian from Your Traxx to discuss an idea him and Matt wanted to do around ‘M S  B W Y’, and after speaking about the direction, vibe and how they wanted it to sound, Julian got some ideas down and sent it over to them on the net.  A few tweeks were made until everyone was happy with it, and then Nick and Matt got their friend Ben to re-sing the vocal. Julian then mixed the vocal in and the Cut Up Boys then played it out to road test it. It went down very well on the dancefloor and with a few level tweeks and some arrangement changes, the track was then sent off to Rob Roar from Phonetic. He loved it but wanted some tweeks done for himself which again were furnished via Your Traxx over the net, and he signed it for immediate release.

Your Traxx are also behind “Sexy Dancer” by the Rockford Files, now signed to Italy’s Sukka Records. Scott Giles, Resident DJ of Pukka Up used Your Traxx to lay down his ideas, feel and production on a track. Within a day he had been sent the original produced idea of the track, and a few more tweeks were made over the net until he was happy with the finished track. It was then sent  to the Beat Thiefs, who loved it and remixed it as well before being signed to Sukka.

Your Traxx is the brainchild of Julian Napolitano, a producer that has collaborated with a wealth of producers and DJs, having recorded for leading labels like Ministry of Sound, AATW, EMI, Polydor, Def Jam, Universal, Phonetic, Spinnin (Netherlands) and the legendary Interscope USA.
Currently signed to one of the world’s favourite House music labels, Phonetic Recordings as the Ruff Loaderz, he is working on new act Catraz.

So if you want to make your own track and think you’ve got what it takes and just need a helping hand and professional skills, please go to www.yourtraxx.co.uk as success is just around the corner.
Biography – Julian Napolitano

Julian started his career in 1993 at the well known underground label Ouch Records, and was responsible for producing 90% of the famous 10” one sided coloured vinyls the label released. It was here that Julian met Andy Manston, famous for his Clockwork Orange nights, and together they became Manky producing “Believe in Me”,  which was signed to Ministry of Sound.
Julian then worked with the Cross Trax label,  achieving commercial chart success and continuing to release a long list of underground records. These included the JDS classic Break Beat/House  anthem “Nine Ways’, which was signed to Pete Tong’s Label FFRR/London Records and Perpetual Motion’s “Keep On Dancing”, which went on to sell over 80,000 copies to reach Number 12 in the UK National Charts on Positiva.

In 2002, JDS hit the map as one of the UK’s leading Break Beat acts when they signed an album deal with Rennie Pilgrim’s label TCR. “Purple Funky Monkey” was not just a Break Beat classic but crossed all boundaries receiving support from International Tastemaker DJ’s including Laurent Garnier and Paul Oakenfold, and in 2004 “Purple Funky Monkey” was Nominated for Best BreakBeat Tune Of The Year.

2005 marked another change in musical direction for Julian when he partnered Simon Langford to form the funky House act, The Soul Seekerz.  They also notched up a string of acclaimed remixes under their belt including Basement Jaxx, Amy Whinehouse, Robbie Williams,  Ne-Yo, Orbital, and the Pussy Cat Dolls.

After spending a year in the studio developing a new sound the Ruff Loaderz was born. Signed to Incentive Music, their re-make of the massive Baby Dee rave anthem “Let Me Be Your Fantasy” with DJ Scott Giles took off.

Julian Napolitano is one of the UK’s most consistent Producer/Remixers, and if your not already familiar with his productions or pseudonyms, then here’s the heads up!
His productions and remixes have contributed to the chart success of some of the world biggest recording artists including Rihanna, Tinchy Stryder, Justin Bieber Wiley, Jason Derulo, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Skepta, Amy Winehouse, Basement Jaxx, Noisettes, Pussy Cat Dolls,  Robbie Williams, Ting Tings, and Jay Sean.
