Blow presents Sick On The Dancefloor! – Friday August 13th

10pm – Super late – Friday August 13th 2010

blow.jpg, 90kB

The news Sickos’ everywhere have been waiting for is here….

The world famous Sick! On The Dancefloor returns with an explosion of Electro, House,Tech and a party that will take you back to the ‘hands in the air’ days that we had at SeOne.

We’ve been away for two years and in that time we haven’t seen anyone step up and fill the big dent that Sick! Left on the UK clubbing scene. So we decided it was time to come back… and show people how it’s done properly.
After a long search for some of the brightest stars of the moment, artists who are burning a trail with their unquestionable talent and flair for the music that we all love so much, we have put together a line up that takes Sick! & Clubbing back to basics….. Talented, energetic DJs who play quality music…

Warrior One is a master yoga pose dedicated to Virabhadra, the name of a fierce warrior incarnation of Shiva, who had a thousand heads, a thousand eyes, and a thousand feet, and wields a thousand clubs whilst wearing a tiger’s skin. Deadly.

Home featuring Sam Obernik

Three of the UK’s most prolific house music producers, Michael Gray (Full Intention), Paul Harris (Dirty Vegas) & Kid Massive team up to deliver one of this summer’s feel good anthems

featuring hypnotic vocal star Sam Obernik. Hailed as “Beechin house!” by Pete Tong, “Home” has been heating up summer dancefloors courtesy of international tastemaker DJ’s such as Roger Sanchez, Axwell and TV Rock.

With a bouncy Original mix fusing shimmering house beats, vintage keys, balearic guitar, hand claps and Sam’s dreamy vocal, ’Home” is a potent dancefloor excursion. Michael Gray tweaks and bends his mix with a clubbier feel, whilst buzzing new producer Daley Padley delivers a tougher sound designed for heavier floors. Paul Harris’ Ibiza Vocal mix turns up the Balearic factor, in addition to a lush Instrumental mix.

Michael Gray is one of the most respected and in demand acts on the global dance music scene. The accomplished DJ, Producer and remixer has enjoyed extensive worldwide success, most notably with his hit ‘The Weekend’.

Heading into its 12th year London's second biggest street festival, Carnaval del Pueblo

Explodes in joyous and colourful fiesta glory onto the streets of Elephant & Castle and then at Burgess Park, Camberwell.

making it the largest celebration of Latin American culture in Europe

Its theme this year is the Bi-centenary Anniversary of Independence for many Latin American countries, and in turn promises to be one of the most vibrant and family-friendly festivals this August in the capital. In just over a decade, the colourful Carnaval del Pueblo fiesta of all things Latin American, is the event of the year for all Latinos and lovers of their culture. A celebration of their roots for expat communities in the capital, and a massive party for Londoners of all communities who come together to share this intense cultural experience.

Inspired by the vibrant costumes and dances from the famous carnivals of Rio de Janeiro, Colombia, Mexico, Cuba, Bolivia, Ecuador and more, Carnaval Del Pueblo starts with its spectacular and technicolour giant float procession from Elephant Road (Elephant & Castle) at 12pm midday as people line the streets in their thousands, before making its way through Walworth Road into Albany Road and finishing at Burgess Park at 3pm. Eco-friendly, many of the costumes and floats are made of of recycled materials, and floats are pushed rather than running on fuel, and hundreds join in the procession as it makes its way towards the park. Once at Burgess Park, revellers can enjoy regionally-themed food, drink, live music and, of course, dance late into the night. There are a number of different stages - Main Stage, Brasilian Fever Stage, Andean Stage, Unite The Union Stage and Childrens Stage - offering everything from traditional music and dance to the hottest contemporary reggaeton and Latin hip-hop and much much more. With a mesmerising feast of food and crafts stalls and activities for children, the Carnaval Del Pueblo spectacular runs until 10pm making this day an experience full of Latin passion.
